I’m Jem/Flawsome Jem, a Nutrition and Health Coach.
I’m here to help busy parents, look and feel healthier through my quick and easy meal plans and group support, so that you can get back to feeling you again. Let’s find YOU again!
I’m based in the South of England, UK. But I want to help you all around the world.
I know from experience how hard it can be to try to lose weight mentally and physically. But also lead a busy life. I also know how frustrating it can be to not be successful when trying to lose weight, or to put any loss back on again, and more.
My approach is different, let me show you an easier way.
Flawsome Jem came about after I decided to change my own lifestyle.
Back in September 2014, I was tired all the time, very unhappy, heavy drinking most evenings, chain smoking, and a complete party animal. To top this off, I was also incredibly overweight.
I was talking with a friend, when doing her hair and complimented her on her weight loss and she told me what she was doing and I decided to join her on my own weight loss journey. I didn’t tell anyone but her, to start with, I didn’t want this to just be another ‘diet’, but I had set my mind to it and I was changing my lifestyle, for life, not just for a special occasion.
So I started out making small changes, just 10 minutes exercise a day and cutting out unnecessary rubbish, like sugar, chocolate, sweets, crisps, fizzy drinks and processed foods and by the Christmas I has lost over 2 stone and people were starting to notice my changes, this kept me motivated to keep going. I’ve since gone on to lose 9 stone (about 130lbs) given up smoking and drinking. But I can assure you life isn’t boring.
I now live my life to the full!
Since losing the weight I have discovered my passion for Nutrition, Health, Lifestyle and Fitness and wanting to help others, so after looking into numerous courses I came across one I could do from home, alongside my current full time job as a hairdresser. So back in June 2016, I started my studies and have since qualified EQF Level 5 in Nutrition, Sports and Exercise Nutrition and also Fitness Coaching.
I’ve always helped others, being a hairdresser, since I left school. And I’ve always been a people person, talking to clients all day and helping them feel better about themselves. Since losing the weight though, it’s made me want to help others, who maybe are in a similar position to how I was back then.
I know how hard it can be to make those changes. I remember feeling fed up all the time, I had no confidence in myself, food had complete control over me, I had tried ‘faddy’ diets in the past and I was sceptical, was this just another ‘diet’.
I remember feeling so lost and confused because there was so many different diets being sold and promoted out there but which one was for me? I needed something I could achieve to maintain long term and not feel deprived. Well I am so happy I decided to take those first steps because now I’m here, wanting to help you all.
Yes a lot of these ‘faddy’ diets, ‘slimming pills’ ‘weight loss shakes’, etc, they all work if you stick them, but none are achievable long term, not without feeling deprived or it affecting your day to day life or even your health.
Some of these ‘diets’ can be so detrimental to your own health. I can speak from experience here, in the past, I tried one of the various ‘weight loss shake plans’, that is available (still is, eek) on the market, for only 3 months, and yes I lost weight, but I also caused myself to get gallstones and the year previous to starting this journey, I had my gall bladder removed by an emergency operation. So please be careful guys.
I believe we should be taught how to make our own healthy choices so it doesn’t matter, so if things don’t go to plan, which life doesn’t, you will know how to best deal with the situation that arises. Whether it be a work trip away, a day out with the kids, a work lunch, dinner out with friends, etc.
I also believe, eating should be a social and enjoyable thing, that should be done with others. Families should eat together, parents shouldn’t have to make 10 diff meals to feed the family, everyone should eat the same.
Let me teach you, so you will know how to make the best possible choices for you to help you succeed on your own health journeys. That you can then teach your families and enjoy together.
I have also learnt lots of other helpful little secrets along the way, that I would like to share with you, because I want you to succeed.

So how we show up to those around us is so important! They are our future, be a good role model, for those around you!

Fun facts about Flawsome Jem
- I grew up on a farm in the countryside, surrounded by fields and trees. My dad is a farmer, so we had cows, lots of cats and dogs and I was an incredibly lucky teenager, I had my own horse, I could see from my bedroom window.
- I lived in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, for 4 years, when I was 18. I worked in a spa, within a 4 * hotel in St Peter Port, where I was a hairdresser. Was brilliant fun, but had to grow up.
- I don’t drink regular tea or coffee, never have and never will! Yuck!!
- I love my own company-my happy places are, peace and quiet on my own with candles lit, reading a good book or getting out for a walk in the fresh air and getting some air in my lungs and clearing my head.
- My guilty pleasures are: Top Gear and The Big Bang Theory. Bit of a geek of both. If I have some free time, I pop one of these on, can watch over and over……
- My favourite colour is green-in case you couldn’t tell.
- I would love to live in the US-I feel as though I was born in the wrong country. Not sure where, but one day!
- I truly believe hemp can change the world-no I’m not some crazy stoner. It’s health and environmental benefits are phenomenal and it’s has millions of uses and not a single plant of the plant can’t be used! We can save the world with this magical plant!
