CBD: What is it?

Carrying on from last weeks post about Hemp, what is it and what it does, I wanted to talk a bit more today about CBD and how it works with our bodies.

So what is CBD?
CBD is 1 of over 60 compounds found in the cannabis plant and belongs to a class of ingredients called Cannabinoids.
CBD is the major non-psychoactive component of cannabis – meaning you won’t get high from taking it.
The human body has a system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) that receives and translates signals it receives from cannabinoids in the body. The body produces some cannabinoids on its own, which are called endocannabinoids. The ECS helps regulate functions such as sleep, immune-system responses and pain.
CBD influences receptors in the body which are concerned with movement, coordination, pain and sensory perception, emotion, memory, cognition, autonomic and endocrine functions and is also seen to reduce inflammation.

So more about CBD and our Endocannabinoid system:
I was blown away by this fact when I first learnt it!!
Our bodies have a system of receptors that are directly activated by CBD!
This system is called the Endocannabinoid System!
It plays a crucial role in regulating our physiology, mood, and everyday experience. Its also involved in regulating a variety of physiological and cognitive processes including fertility, pregnancy, during pre-and postnatal development, appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory!
This system of receptors runs throughout our central nervous system, brain and many other organs!
AND CBD fits into that system like a missing key!!
Did you know this about the Endocannabinoid System?
