Happy Hemp Day!
How are you doing?
Today I thought I’d hop on and talk a bit more about the difference between Full Spectrum CBD and Isolate CBD and the legalities of them both here in the UK. Hope you find helpful…
As always, any questions I am always here and happy to help, book a free chat below with myself and let’s get you started on your own healthy CBD journey.
Full Spectrum CBD:
What does Full Spectrum CBD mean?
The definition of Full Spectrum CBD is simple. It means the product contains all of the cannabinoids present in the hemp or cannabis plant.
There will be many cannabinoids beyond only CBD, along with other elements of the hemp plant, including naturally-occurring terpenes, essential vitamins, fatty acids, protein, and more.
You might also sometimes find Full Spectrum CBD called Whole Plant CBD Extract for this reason.
Full Spectrum Oil is generally a dark golden brown, somethimes with a greeny tinge. Will have an earthy taste but shouldn’t be unbearable.
An alternative to Full Spectrum CBD is CBD Isolate which contains only CBD – the CBD molecule is chemically isolated from everything else in the plant.
It comes in a white powder form and will be about 99% pure CBD.
CBD Isolates have no identifiable amount of THC, the well-known chemical found in cannabis that creates that euphoric high, and they’re stripped of the other beneficial and nutritional compounds like terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, and protein, that I mentioned above.
So is Full Spectrum better than Isolate?
CBD Isolate is a bit like selling bread that’s been stripped of much of its nutritional value.
Every cannabinoid and terpene found in a hemp plant has a specific biochemical effect, and studies have indicated there is a greater benefit when all the compounds work together in what is known as the “Entourage Effect.”
Isolate CBD is commonly used in vape juices, skincare, hair care and cosmetics products, these are legal in the UK. But CBD Isolate based Tinctures are illegal here in the UK, so please don’t buy or use.
We don’t want to encourage these companies are knowingly breaking the law.
My advice is to report them to the Cannabis Trades Association (CTA) as they are selling illegal products.
In the US, Isolate CBD Tinctures are legal!
We have to stay compliant in this industry for the regulations and changes to work and happen.
If you feel anyone you know, or have seen is breaking the law, do something about it, please!
So to round things up...
Full Spectrum contains bits of everything from the Cannabis plant. Some products may contain trace amounts of THC. This heightens the properties and enhances the effects of CBD. The legal amount is 0.2%. Most products contain way below that limit anyway, some don’t contain any at all.
Isolate has had everything extracted so it just contains CBD.
New rules have come in saying isolate is only to be used in vape products and cosmetics, not orally in tincture form. This is generally cheaper than Full Spectrum.
I’m not saying don’t buy others, only buy ours (that would be nice though!), but I’m trying to give you info that would be able to help you with your purchases and clear up any questions or queries about the costs.
REMEMBER, ALWAYS ASK FOR LAB TESTS!
Know what you are buying. You are in safe hands with Flawsome Jem.
If you want to buy from the high street shop, then do. But just bare in mind what I’ve said, and do your research before parting with your money.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I’m always here and happy to try and help you.
